Caramelized Onions
Add a touch of sweet and savoury flavour to any dish with these caramelized onions. They’re easy to make using just four ingredients you already have in the kitchen: onions, canola oil, garlic and pepper. Use as a pizza topping or add to sandwiches, steaks, in dips or topped on crackers for a simple appetizer.

- 2 Tbsp canola oil (30 mL)
- 1/4 tsp pepper (1mL)
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Directions
- In large non-stick sauté pan, heat canola oil over medium heat.
- Add onions and garlic. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook onions and garlic for approximately 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until onions are softened.
